Bedouin War Film

alt

The lives of three Bedouin women are shattered when the patriarch of the family takes a second wife.

SYNOPSIS

Living their entire lives in a Bedouin village,Sabiha and her daughters were taught that loyalty to tradition is above all. When Sabina’s husband marries a younger woman their world shatters, and

the women are torn between their commitment to the patriarchal rules and being true to themselves,

their womanhood.

12-year-old Nadine will not forgo her status as ‘daddy’s favorite’; 17-year-old Ahlam will try to escape the village with her sweetheart; and Sabiha will spare no effort to keep the family’s unity under

the new chaotic reality. Slowly, the women realize that they must unite if they want to survive.

TRIGGER

Bedouin War Film is based on my six years acquaintance with Bedouin women from the Negev. During this time I discovered a changing society; A society which is trying to hold on to its traditions and values while slowly opening up to the Western Israeli culture. A society in which the young women start to speak up and to secretly hope that for their daughters, life will be different The characters of Bedouin War Film are fictional, but they are inspired by true stories and events of the Bedouin women I’ve met. These women have become a big part of my life during the past years, and there is nothing I would like more then to bring their stories to the big screen.
