Shira has difficulty taking care of her six daughters, while her husband expects her to become

pregnant again.

SYNOPSIS

The lives of Shira and her friends, in a religious town in the Shomron (Samaria), are governed

by strict rules. Shira is “forbidden” to her husband during menstruation and childbirth. She gives

birth to six daughters without him present. Her longing for him will continue until she

completes her purification with a ritual immersion in the Mikveh (ritual bath).

But the resumed closeness with her husband also poses the danger of another pregnancy.

It takes Shira a long time to realize that she is miserable, that she has become an

impatient and alienated mother, that household chores do not represent a spiritual challenge

for her, and that she wants more from life.

But any attempt to make a change in Shira’s life comes with a price she would have to

pay.

TRIGGER

I lived for many years in a closed religious society. I have seen many women who give birth not

out of a desire to give love to their offspring, but because this is dictated by society, a husband

or a rabbi. I hope that this film, in addition to representing a personal work full of pain and

uncertainties, will assist these women in shaping their own lives.
